Definition of bigot: somebody with strong opinions, especially on politics, religion, or ethnicity, who refuses to accept different views
I've never thought of myself as a bigot. Maybe it's because I don't have much of an opinion on politics or religion. I think that's attributed to not being educated enough on either topic. I support gay marriage and abortions I'm kind of in the middle. My point being is that I'm very open to all of these topics, but recently have found myself having a strong opinion on something - Polygamy.
Polygamy is a form of marriage in which a person has more than one spouse at the same time, as opposed to monogamy in which a person has only one spouse at a time.
If you haven't seen it yet, there is a new show on TLC called "Sister Wives." There are four wives and one husband. Three of the wives and the husband have been together for 16 years and just recently courted another wife who brought three of her own children from a previous marriage. Between all of them, there are 16 children. I am just absolutely applaud by this life style. According to the family, the husband spends his time equally between his four wives. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. I'm sorry, but I want my husband in MY bed every night. Not rotating between me and three other woman. The one wife only has one child. Is it the wife who decides how many children she'll have with this man? The other wives have several children, and he plans to have kids with the new wife. He is, however, only legally married to the first wife. The other wives just go through a spiritual ceremony. Each wife and her children have their own living space (kind of like an apartment) in the home. I believe you can love more than one person at a time, but I believe you can only be in love with one person. I don't agree that he's married to four woman and says he loves them all. I also find it disgusting that each of them are OK with him having sex with more than one person.
I know how frustrated I get with close-minded people when it comes to gay relationships, politics, religion, etc., and I feel like I'm one of those people who have a strong opinion about polygamy, and don't see how anyone could ever change my mind. I find it unethical and completely unrealistic.
